He was educated at Repton, Buckingham University and the College of Law, after which he worked as a solicitor in Cheltenham and London.
His legal skills have been applied in his family’s agriculture, industrial and property business, which he runs with his brother, James.
In 2015-16, he served as High Sheriff for the County for Staffordshire. As the Crown’s representative for all aspects of law and order in the county, his duties involved visiting all courts, prisons, police stations, fire stations, offering hospitality to visiting High Court judges and attending royal visits. He visited and hosted numerous local civic functions and charities over the course of his year in office.
An active participant in British politics, for five years he served as Midlands Treasurer of the Conservative Party, and today is Chairman of the Midlands Industrial Council.
He is a frequent commentator on current affairs and his columns appear frequently in the Daily Telegraph. He has also written a novel, Fragile Boundaries, which achieved widespread acclaim.
Johnny is a former Trustee of Lichfield Cathedral, High Sheriff of Staffordshire, and governor of Pimlico School (now Pimlico Academy).
